9th April: Oscar Scan

Oscar scan result was good. Dr Goh's clinic called and informed that Little Liang has a low risk of being a Down syndrome baby.  Hmm, kinda expected the result as both hubby and me are not above 35 years old. Our families don't have any Down syndrome heritage also. =) Anyway, it is still good that little Liang is doing fine in the scan and he/she has been very cooperative when I had the Oscar scan on 9th April. The scan went well and didn't take very long.

12 weeks 4 days

Went back to work and didn't have the time to update. Been a month since the last update! Moving onwards to 2nd trimester, I feel not much difference just yet, maybe a little not so tired? Nausea feeling still somewhat there at evening time or when I am super hungry. Vomitting count so far is 1. Finally recovering from a cough lasting for coming a month!

How's Little Liang doing? Pretty playful.. nodding his/her head and waving his/her hand enthusiatically at us when gynea doing the 12 weeks ultrascan. Heartbeat is pretty fast too.... much faster than the last scan at week 9.

Above photo is a shot of medicine and vitamins Little Liang put me through. =(  Fish oil, calcium pill, folic acid, multi-vitamins, iron pill, cough mixture, lozenges and antibiotics. The cough must quickly recover, so I can toss away 2 pills and the cough mixture!

Little Liang measuring 4.7cm at 12 weeks. Sounds small? Haa, but Little Liang wouldn't be small anymore if I mention that he/she has grown 3 times bigger since week 9. At week 9, he was measuring 1.9 cm.

My weight hasn't increased. Haa, still the same or dropped a little as compared to 3 weeks ago since I was battling a cough. I am a little more choosy with food again since last week. Simply can't stand the smell of frying fish and zi char smell, and I only like drinking soup and eating fruits. These 12 weeks, although I don't exercise, I find that I can maintain my weight better than pre-pregnant. =P

Oh well, Jiayou Little Liang~ You have been doing good, giving me little vomitting and has braved through the most unstable stage of your life..! =D

Week 7

Went to the gynae yesterday afternoon to get the fetus checked. Erm.. technically it is still called embryo until it is 11 weeks old, but I think it sounds funny mentioning it as "embryo". Haa.. Anyway, doctor did a ultrascan to hear the heartbeat of the little one, measuring 6 mm and having a strong heartbeat! =D

How am I feeling? Still no vomitting, dizzy due to lower blood pressure, bad appetite during meal times but hungry at supper time (poor hubby gotta go out to buy)... Probably I am the lucky one that is not affected by morning sickness?

Dr. Goh says that I am fit to go back to work, should there be any bleeding, gotta go back to him. Now I know, I really need to take care, don't carry stuffs and don't get angry with students...

Till the next week...

Week 6

I've been reading quite a few pregnancy blogs and the blogs I've read gave me some inspirations that it is nice to document this lovely 40 weeks journey. It has been 1 year 1 month after hubby and my customary wedding, but we seriously trying to be parents-to-be for about 7 months since last June. We didn't try right away since there was the honeymoon that comes 3 months after wedding. June seems right to try as we have been married for half a year.

The trying-to-conceive doesn't seem to be as easy as thought by my mom! I had this disillusion that once we try, we'll get conceived within 2 to 3 months of trying since I was often reminded by my mom that I should behave myself so I won't have child out of wedlock. Secondly, hubby and I are young, considering that hubby just 30 last year and I was 27. But!! I was proven completely wrong!!

Hubby and I are actually planning for a pre-conception check coming March holidays if we don't have successful attempt. Think baby dust is suddenly on me! Last month, was a sucessful month!! And it has also proven that hubby and my organs and cells are working normally! =D

So here goes the timeline for last week, story from discovery to 1 week mc!

18 Feb 2013

We did our own pregnancy test at home after missing my period for 4 days! Was surprised to see double red lines after being disappointed for so many tests.. =D I remembered dipping it into my urine and tell hubby that I will shower first while waiting for results. However, hubby stayed and looked at the test.. and he gave a "hmm...?" expression. Haha, after shower, I read the results and told him if everything goes well, he's going to be a dad!

20 Feb 2013
Was the first gynae appt to confirm my pregnancy. Chose my cousin's gynae located at Thomson plaza, Dr Goh Y.C. He's very assuring and experienced. He did an ultrascan and said if there's no bleeding and everything is normal, I will see him in 2 weeks time. He prescibed me florxine, which is generally folic acid.

22 Feb 2013

Went back 2 days later due to a bleeding scare on thurs (21st Feb). This is the scan he did, just to be sure that everything is fine. The bean shape looking dark area is suppose to be the sac that baby will eventually grow in. Doctor Goh says it is implantation bleeding as the fetus is not stable yet. The bleeding scare puts me on a Progesterone injection, many progesterone pills taken twice a day and 1 week MC to rest as much as I can.

Ok lah, been writting quite a bit... I will update again till the next appointment!

1st Year!

Actual date for 1st Year is actually tomorrow, 24th Dec. However, we celebrated our 1st Wedding Anniversary on 20th Dec to avoid the mad rush and crowd of all restaurants on Christmas Eve. So, it has been a year since we became husband and wife based on chinese customary. Confused? Let me explain...

Maybe next time I'll have a post on the marriage process, so to cut story short, I shall just blog in summary in this post since today's post is about 1st Wedding Anniversary. We bought our love nest in Dec 2010 and we are required to submit our proof of marriage aka ROM cert by half year later, so in the eyes of the law, hubby and I are married since 9th May 2011. Our chinese customary wedding is on 24th Dec 2011. So I guess to make things easier, and since 24th Dec will always fall in the school holidays, I think it is good to celebrate wedding anniversaries on 24th Dec.

A shot of Keppel Bay, with many many yachts parking. Hubby told me before that only residents of the condominiums (Reflections, Caribbean etc) around it can park their yachts here.

Above is a photo of what we ate on that evening. We had that evening's dinner at Prive Grill. Overall, I had very good impression of the place with superb service, good ambience and good food. Below are the names and brief description of the main dishes we chose. The meal comes along with a basket of breads, some appetizers and chips.

Hubby's choice
SEAFOOD POT-AU-FEU
Pan-Roasted Salmon, Scallops, Crab Tortellini, Blue Mussels, Leek, White Cap Mushroom Nage

My choice
JOSPER-GRILLED KING PRAWNS
Spaghetti Aglio Olio, Charred Peppers, Chilli

If you are interested here's the link to their website.
Address: No. 2 Keppel Bay Vista, Singapore 098382
Telephone No: +65 6776 0777

**I am just sharing about this restaurant as it gives me a very good impression, I am by no means paid by them, neither is the meal sponsored or whatsoever. As a teachcer, I can't have a 2nd career so better to be safe, here's a proof of our spending... =D

The gifts!! Bought hubby a Renoma wallet to replace his old and tearing apart wallet and I got a gold chain from the hubby! Hubby says that there's resale value in contrast to buying diamond, rose gold, purple gold, platinum etc....... Shall end here then...... Happy 1st Year, darling!

Why I blog

If you've visited my profile, you realised that I created blogger account since 2004. Those days I was in university and blogging started to be the in trend, so I also created one! Then along the way, I deleted the blog that was using the same name as I was starting a career in teaching. Those days, people cautioned me about blogging and posting on facebook since I am a teacher and there were cases about teachers posting contents that were not supposed to be posted. Since I want to get this started again and keep this going, I will be tactful in the things I post.

It has been 3 years I am teaching (how time flies?!) and age is catching up. Like Bing mentioned in her blog, the "signs of memory deterioration" is scary. So I thought this would be a good time to start posting, in hope to capture all the good moments in life with hubby, family and friends. =)

**Erm, Bing is not my friend. She is an award winning blogger whose blog inspired me to start blogging again.**

Life is like a long distance race! That's how I always picture life to be, where everyone is like marathon runner, running their own race.

Ok lah, shall not prolong the pain of reading long long post. Signing off...
